My daughter is 18, has a learning disability, and is excited to start her first job. Today’s orientation made something that should feel welcoming feel stressful: I couldn’t sit with her, and she couldn’t use her phone to reach me. She deserves the chance to ask questions and understand the paperwork without being made to feel like a problem. What support or accommodation helped you—or someone you love—feel more confident starting a job?#disability #learningdisability #firstjob #advocate

our baby girl is 3 years old today..😭🩷🎂🪩🌸💛🥳🌈 our first birthday with our girl & it was EVERYTHING. it’s held so much joy, but also a lot of grief, as the reality of adoption is very much present on days like today. God was so tender and sent two different Brazilian families who volunteered to make brigadeiro for her party (a traditional Brazilian dessert that is a MUST at every birthday party in Brazil). i sobbed again in grief and joy. they also helped us all sing happy birthday to her

There are only two kinds of thinkers. The first sees the world in terms of one theory that can explain absolutely everything, and the second thinker thinks that these theories are probably just wrong. This is what the philosopher Isaiah Berlin argued in 1953. Berlin argued that if you look at the history of philosophy and how people think today, you will find two different kinds of people. You have hedgehog people and fox people. A hedgehog knows only one thing. They have a single organising ide
